TIGHTYPE is an independent type foundry, established in 2015. Our approach is to provide visually strong typefaces for people who value contemporary type design.

End User License Agreement

Desktop

  • A desktop license allows fonts to be installed on computers to be utilized in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and so on. Desktop licenses are one-off payments and measured by the number of users installing and using the fonts.

Web

  • A web license allows fonts to be embedded on one website via self-hosting. Web licenses are one-off payments and measured by the monthly page views a website receives.

App

  • An app license allows fonts to be embedded into one app. App licenses are one-off payments and measured by the number of downloads the app is expected to receive.

Social Media

  • A social media license is an add-on to our desktop license. It allows fonts to be used commercially on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook. Social media licenses are one-off payments and are measured by the total number of followers across all platforms combined.

Broadcast

  • A broadcast license allows the fonts to be utilized for TV, cinema, and on streaming platforms such as Netflix or HBO. Broadcast licenses are measured by the regions the fonts will be broadcasted to. Please get in touch for more information and pricing.

Corporate

  • Our comprehensive corporate license grants unlimited usage of fonts across various platforms and mediums and is tailored for larger organizations. Please get in touch for more information and pricing.

Help

Trials

  • For testing purposes we offer free trail versions of our retail typefaces. Trial versions cover a limited range of glyphs, such as uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and a few symbols. Trials can be requested directly from the typeface showcase pages (at the very bottom of each site).

Modifications, Customizations, And Commissions

  • If you are interested in a modified or customized version of a typeface or want to commission a bespoke type design, please get in touch with more information about your project to discuss details.

Font Licenses

  • A font license allows you to use a font in a certain, specified way. You are required to upgrade your license if your use of the fonts increases beyond the agreed uses (please refer to “License Upgrades” for details). It is important that you read and accept our End User License Agreement before making a purchase.

Payments

  • Our site allows you to directly purchase licenses via PayPal. Please get in touch if you don’t have a PayPal account or prefer to pay via bank transfer. All prices listed are final and in Euro.

License Purchases On Behalf Of Someone Else

  • Feel free to purchase licenses on behalf of your clients or other individuals. You will be able to edit license holder details after your purchase.

Order Issues

  • If you have not received an order confirmation via email or are not able to access the inbox of the email address linked to your PayPal account, please get in touch.

License Upgrades

  • If you have exceeded the limitations of your license or want to upgrade from single styles to the full family, please get in touch for further information.

Order Refunds & Changes

  • All font purchases are final and can not be returned, refunded, or exchanged. If you want to make changes to the license holder, please get in touch within 30 days of purchase.

Student & Non-Profit Discounts

  • Please feel free to get in touch for a 50% discount on our entire catalogue for non-commercial student projects and non-profit organizations. If you’re a student, please send us the name of your school, your student Email address, and the year of your graduation. If you’re working for or are representing a non-profit organization, please send us your registration number.

VAT, Taxes, And Invoices

  • A purchase receipt, including order details and all necessary tax information can be downloaded via the link in our order confirmation email.

Language Support

  • In addition to Latin languages, some of our typefaces support Cyrillic and Greek alphabets. Please refer to each typeface’s page for more information on which languages are supported. If your language is not supported or you would like to commission a character set extension, feel free to reach out.

Typeface Submissions

  • We are always interested in new typefaces from passionate designers. If you’d like to submit a typeface, please send us a few samples and your portfolio (both PDF and website are fine).

End User License Agreement

  • End User License Agreement (EULA) between you (the “Licensee”) and TIGHTYPE (the “Supplier”). By receiving, purchasing, downloading, installing, using, or otherwise handling our Font Software, you automatically accept the terms of this Agreement. This Agreement replaces and supersedes any previously made oral or written proposals or agreements between the Licensee and the Supplier.

1 Ownership and Copyright

  • The Font Software downloaded will always remain copyrighted to the Supplier. The Font Software and the intellectual property of the design contained are owned by the Supplier and/or its contractors. Purchasing Licenses grants the Licensee limited rights to use the Font Software. The Licensee is not allowed to share, distribute, illegally copy, sub-license, lend, lease, or sell the Font Software, its design, or any portion of it. Except for the right to use the Font Software granted by this License, all other rights are owned and retained by the Supplier.

2 Lawful Use of Product

  • By purchasing any Font Software from the Supplier and upon full payment of the agreed usage fee, the Licensee is granted the right to use the Font Software as specified in the order.

2.1 Desktop License

  • With any purchase of a Desktop License, the Licensee obtains the rights to install the Font Software on the specified number of computers. These computers have to belong to the Licensee. The Licensee is allowed to connect to and use the Font Software with any number of output devices, belonging to the Licensee, such as printers. The Font Software may be passed to a commercial printer or other pre-press facilities in the scope of a defined project, only to prepare for printing and print your documents. Third parties are not allowed to actively create new documents with the Font Software that has been passed on for output only. If any modification to a document is to be made by a non-licensee, a new license must be purchased.

2.2 Web License

  • By purchasing a Web License the Licensee is granted the right to embed the Font Software on one website domain owned by the Licensee with the specified web traffic. Only the original Font Software delivered can be used. The Font Software has to be stored on the same server associated with the licensed domain. Technologies other than @font-face are not allowed. The use of third-party font hosting services is prohibited.

2.3 App License

  • The Font Software delivered with an App License can be embedded in one mobile application with the specified app downloads. The use of Font Software may be used for the development of the app.

2.4 Social Media License

  • A Social Media License grants the Licensee the right to use the Font Software on social media platforms with the specified number of followers. A Desktop License has to be purchased and registered to the Licensee prior to purchasing a Social Media License.

2.5 Broadcast License

  • Broadcast Licenses authorize the Licensee to use the Font Software for broadcasting purposes within the specified region and time.

2.6 Corporate License

  • The purchase of a Corporate License grants the Licensee to install the Font Software on an unlimited number of computers belonging to the Licensee, and/or embed the Font Software on one website domain owned by the Licensee with unlimited web traffic, and/or embed the Font Software in one mobile application with unlimited downloads, and/or use the Font Software on social media platforms with unlimited followers, and/or use the Font Software for broadcasting purposes. Specific details must be discussed with and agreed upon by the Supplier.

2.7 Trial License

  • The use of the Font Software of a Trial License is allowed for testing purposes only. The use for commercial or personal public projects is prohibited. If the Font Software is to be used for a project, a license has to be purchased and registered.

3 Modifications

  • The Licensee is not allowed to convert, modify, or rename the Font Software under any circumstance. Any modifications must be discussed with the Supplier as a bespoke project.

4 Purchase and Transfer of Licenses

  • Licenses are not transferable to other companies or individuals. Font Software may be purchased on behalf of a client. The client must be registered as the Licensee after the purchase, informed about this Agreement, and provided with the invoice related to the purchase. The client has to accept this agreement. Invoicing a client at another price as the one displayed on our website is not allowed.

5 Limited Liability

  • Although every effort has been taken to produce the Font Software to the highest standards, in no circumstance whatsoever will the Supplier be liable for any consequential, indirect, incidental, punitive, or special damages including any lost profits, lost data, or lost savings. All Font Software installed is done so at the Licensee’s risk.

6 Miscellaneous

  • Any breach of the terms of this Agreement shall be cause for termination. The use of Font Software in any racist, homophobic, transphobic, or sexist context is prohibited. We will pursue legal action if you are found to be using our fonts illegally. We reserve the right to update this Agreement at any time without prior consent or notice. Exclusive place of jurisdiction is Stuttgart, Germany. You acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
